Interesting insight! Learned a bunch, and great societal analysis. I wondered if this piece is based mainly over how People magazine perceives who the sexiest man alive should be, and if so, is there is any surveys made around the topic or if it’s solely People magazine’s perception... which would be just one opinion...(granted People magazine is not one would call “grand journalism”). This piece also made me think about how these are also contributing to establishing the personal brand of these celebrities and creating sometimes the mystery mentioned here, that would otherwise be non-existant.
Patrick Dempsey is a perfectly good silver fox, but he's not PSMA.
That said, I wonder how much of his selection is "stuck culture" - there just isn't a pipeline for modern day Cruises or Clooneys or what-have-you, so People must go back to the late-2000s well for candidates.
Pat is very attractive. He's exactly the sort of grey-lined man a young female magazine consumer would flick her bean to before breaking into a bota box, and that's exactly who this magazine is for. Comparing him to a chubby pre-diabetic with an adult diaper is unfair. This is actually a sign that, underneath it all, most of us still know beauty when we see it.
Never found McDreamy hot. But I admit that Chalamet is growing on me!
Only a week left in the year and you sneak in “glistening with blood, sweat, and jizz” as a buzzer beater nominee for best line of 2023.
Wow! Didn't know I was stronger and more virile than the sexiest man alive!
But then I suspect a lot of your other readers are too.

Is your title here meant to read SEXIST? I hope so.
