I actually stopped listening to Granite after watching Dune 2, hating it, listening to a bunch of RW critics from Auron to Kruptos to Cundundrum to you all tear it apart for the same reasons, then listening to Granite and his friends talk about how awesome and based it was. I remember thinking, "I don't think this guy watches movies the same way I do."
So thank you A) for calling him on it, and B) giving him a chance to explain himself. I still don't agree with him, but he at least seems aware it was a hot take, and I've got no problem with the occasional hot one. I'll have to give him another shot.
I think you need to do a whole podcast on Zero Barrier and 2014. Everyone I talk to about this atudf also puts that as the date things changed, and in so many industries, not just movies. I think The Coddling of the American Mind even falls out that year. It's worth examining further.
Great episode!

Dune 2 was definitely the most divisive new release of the past few years—at least on the internet right.
